Accomplishing Your Wildest Dreams: Through the Power of the Holy Spirit

“So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God.”
~II Chronicles 27:6
The subject of achieving dreams is popular in today’s society. Everywhere you turn there’s a meme about achieving success and dreaming big. Today’s generation doesn’t understand how to accomplish their dreams and ambitions because they don’t know how to prepare for success by breaking down their dreams into tangible, reasonable, accomplishable goals.
So many people spend the majority of their life “chasing the dream,” thinking that achieving the dream will bring them fulfillment and happiness. It’s just not so. They would find that if they took that dream and divided it into baby steps – small daily goals – they would feel accomplishment and fulfillment every time they could mark a goal off the checklist. One step closer to the dream! Would you rather stand back and enjoy the idea of what your ambitions dream will look like…someday; or would you rather take a step toward turning it into a beautiful reality? Are you preparing yourself for success?
The thought of setting goals is intimidating to many people. Quite frankly, it’s easier to dream than it is to put the dream into measureable goals and then work toward accomplishing those goals. Any person can dream, but it takes determination and diligence to goals and then use them to bring the dream into reality.
“You can look around and become discouraged. You can look within and see your own limitations. Or you can look up and see God’s offer of fresh anointing from His Holy Spirit.”
~ Paul Chappell
There’s no need to be intimidated or discouraged. After you accepted Christ as your Savior, He sent the Holy Spirit to be with you and live in your heart. You can seek guidance from the Holy Spirit as you set your goals. Ask Him to help you make the right decisions, to make your goals reasonable, to guide you as you accomplish great things for Him! Too often today we forget that we have a Comforter ready to guide and help us. We dare to dream big but we cower at the thought of handing over that dream to the Holy Spirit an we cringe at the thought of trusting Him to guide us in setting goals to reach those dreams. It is like we are afraid He is going to ruin our life if we dare ask Him to help us.
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
~II Corinthians 12:9
We can accomplish nothing of any consequence without the help of the Holy Spirit, and we can accomplish nothing of any depth or magnitude without setting reasonable daily, weekly, monthly goals that work toward the desired end. It is high time we stop yakking and blathering about what we wish for, what could be, and what we dream would happen and start seeking the Holy Spirit’s guidance as we set goals that take us toward the prize one step at a time. Paul told us eloquently to run with purpose:
“I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:”
~I Corinthians 9:26
A runner can only reach the finish line by taking one step at a time. By the grace of God we can accomplish great things for Christ if we will only be willing to stop being afraid, get over ourselves, and lean on the Holy Spirit to guide us one step at a time, on goal at a time.
“Without the Spirit of God we can do nothing. We are as ships without wind or chariots without steeds. Like branches without sap, we are withered. Like coals without fire, we are useless. As an offering without the sacrificial flame, we are unaccepted.” ~C.H. Spurgeon
